The League of Professional Craftsmen

Below is a copy of a leaflet you will be given if you decide to employ us to carry out your installation. Quite simply, it means you can go to this organisation in the event you are dissatisfied with any of our work and we fail to respond to your requirements. The League, if they agree with your complaint, will ensure we carry out your wishes.

LETTER OF QUALITY ASSURANCE

Dear Sir/Madam

I am delighted to have the opportunity of introducing you to a member of The League of Professional Craftsmen.

The League was formed to promote businesses that use a high degree of skill or expertise in their day to day work. It was our feeling that many skilled craftsmen were losing contracts by being undercut by inexperienced or poor tradesmen who claim to be craftsmen.

All our members have been thoroughly vetted and this is your assurance that they will complete a professional job, on time and for the price agreed. In the unlikely event that a member fails to remedy a problem with your contract then contact The League immediately and enjoy the benefits of our mediation contract. (A copy of the Contract is set out below).

All our members will carry an official membership card, but you may verify that the person giving you this letter is a member of the League by ringing us on 020 8427 8813.

For your own peace of mind, we strongly recommend that you select a trader who is a member of The League of Professional Craftsmen.

Yours faithfully

L. Leigh Secretary

MEDIATION CONTRACT
1. In the event of a customer requesting the League to mediate in a dispute between a member and the customer the member shall cooperate with the League's officers in the mediation of the dispute and with such other person(s) as the League may appoint to assist in the mediation.
2. Where mediation fails and the customer requests that the dispute be referred to independent arbitration the League shall request the Institute of Arbitrators or a similar body to appoint an arbitrator and the member shall submit to such arbitration and shall do so not withstanding that there may be no arbitration agreement between the member and the customer.
3. The arbitration shall be conducted by the arbitrator in such manner as he shall see fit. The member shall abide by such award as the arbitrator may make including any order for costs.
4. In the event of the member failing to comply with any term of this procedure:
i) he shall make himself liable to immediate expulsion from the League and thereafter shall not be entitled to use the League's emblem or the benefits provided by the League; and
ii) the League shall be entitled at its sole discretion to make available to the customer any finding made or report or other document obtained during the process of mediation which shall not be treated as confidential or priveleged and which may be used by the customer in any legal proceedings; and
iii) the League shall be entitled at its sole discretion to provide such further assistance it thinks fit (whether financial or otherwise) to the
customer in any legal proceedings brought by the customer against the member.
